Yoislandy “Cuba” Izquierdo was born in Habana Cuba on January 9, 1984. At the early age of 12, his journey into the world of Martial Arts began when he began to practice Karate. At 18, Yoislandy had to serve in the military as was the law in his country. Even though he had to stop practicing Karate because the sport was not practiced in the military, he began training in Kuk Sool, a Korean Martial Art. He practiced Kuk Sool for two years throughout his military obligation and upon exiting the service he began training in Sanda Sanshou. In this sport he became a six time Cuban National Champion receiving the most consecutive Martial Arts Championships by a competitor in Cuba.
Yoislandy took the opportunity to come to the United States in 2008, where he immediately started practicing the combat sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
With a professional record of 12-4-0, Yoislandy “Cuba” Izqueirdo is prepared to spend the rest of his career practicing MMA and is hopeful that he will one day become UFC Lightweight Champion all with the support of his family and fans. Yoislandy currently lives in North Carolina surrounded by the love of his wife and daughter.
